5 Boat Routes in Menorca with Friends

If sailing is a pleasure, imagine choosing from several boat routes in Menorca and getting lost with your friends. Menorca is an island where you will feel free among coves and paradisiacal beaches. Today, from Inuitz, we are going to show you five routes so you only have to worry about enjoying yourself. Ready to cast off?

Mahon Port – Cala En Porter Route

For this first suggestion, you should depart from Mahon port. The first stop is a place that will leave you speechless: Cala Sant Esteve. It is an area of great strategic value and with a lot of history. If you fancy visiting fortifications, nearby are Fort Malborough and Torre d’en Penjat, both of British origin (18th century). In front of the cove is also Castell de Sant Felip.

After the excursion, we head to Cala en Porter, which has restaurants, showers, lifeguards, and a first aid post. Due to its location, Cala en Porter is one of the cleanest and most peaceful coves in Menorca. Swimming there is as relaxing as swimming in a large pool.

Cala en Porter – Cala Macarella Route

After enjoying Cala en Porter and exploring Cova d’en Xoroi, a natural cave that is now a venue serving as a daytime bar and a nighttime discotheque with stunning terrace views, the next stop is Cala Mitjana and Cala Mitjaneta. These two coves form a natural and unspoiled bay. They are surrounded by a pine forest, and their waters are crystal clear and calm.

The goal of this boat route in Menorca is to anchor in Cala Macarella; this beautiful cove rivals Cala Turqueta in the blue color of its waters. If you have time, we recommend visiting these two coves. Near Macarella is Macarelleta, a smaller cove where nudism is practiced. You can walk from one to the other in less than 10 minutes.

Cala Macarella – Ciutadella Route

A boat route in Menorca should not overlook Cala Macarella. A familiar place because it's the setting for commercials, and it's no wonder. It's a paradise on Earth. Cala Turqueta, Cala des Talaier, Son Saura, or Cala en Bosc are some of the southern coasts of Menorca you'll encounter until you reach Cala Blanca. Very close by is one of Menorca's most important municipalities: Ciutadella.

Ciutadella – Algaiarens Route

It's time to explore the city and enjoy one of its restaurants while you refuel. From Ciutadella, you should head to Algaiarens. Sailing the west coast of Menorca is quite a spectacle, and from there, we will turn towards Cape Nati. There you will find the Punta Nati Lighthouse, a place we recommend because you can witness a magical sunset. From there, you will have to stop at Cala Morell before reaching our destination, Algaiarens.

Algaiarens – Cavalleria Route

If the purpose of your boat trip in Menorca was to observe the seabed, you will find it at La Vall or Algaiarens beaches. Swimming in its waters is a luxury for the eyes. If we continue sailing, to starboard we will leave Cala Pilar, Calderer, and Barril. Upon reaching an area of turquoise water with fine, soft sand, it will be a sign that you are in Cala Pregonda. A good place to end the day is Cala Cavalleria, where you will enjoy reddish sand.
