What is BPA and why are our bottles free of it?
What is BPA? We want to talk to you about a topic that is very important to us and we want to explain why our bottles are BPA-free.
It is the acronym for the compound “bisphenol A”, and we assure you that you will not find it in our store. But why do we have such a rejection of this material? We will tell you what BPA is and what harm it can cause to our health.

What is BPA
BPA stands for, as we mentioned, bisphenol A. It is an organic compound and its molecular formula is C15 H16 O2. It was discovered at the end of the 19th century and began to be used in the 1950s, in the manufacturing of plastic or resin materials.
Its acronym BPA is an adaptation of the English “bisphenol A”, and it is obtained by combining acetone, phenol, and an acid, which is usually hydrochloric acid (although others can be used).
To give us an idea of how popular this compound has become, it is enough to say that it is one of the main components of epoxy resin. Due to its properties, it has been used in the manufacture of containers such as bottles and receptacles, as well as baby bottles.
It is even used in medicine for the manufacture of dental components and, in optics, for the manufacture of organic lenses. In addition, we can find it in various home appliances or in DVDs and CDs.
However, the use of this material (or other materials containing it) was questioned almost a century ago. Especially because it can affect the health of young children, and even the fetus in the mother's womb.
Why BPA is harmful to health
The big problem with BPA is that it has been shown to alter the endocrine system and normal hormone levels in animal tests. The way this substance can enter our body and cause harm is through food and beverages that have been in contact with it. And this happens through the containers that hold them.

Epoxy resin has been frequently used to coat the inside of canned food containers or all kinds of lids and caps. Furthermore, it has even been used in water supply, coating pipes.
Effects of BPA on human health
Despite the numerous studies that have shown its toxicity in animals, it is difficult to extrapolate these results to humans, especially considering the proportions in which containers contain BPA. This has generated controversy between health authorities and manufacturers. The trend, however, is that more and more countries are limiting its use.
In any case, the more than possible effects are especially noticeable in the endocrine system, that is, in our hormones. Reproductive organs are affected and, as a result, fertility declines. On the other hand, BPA consumption has also been linked to neurological alterations that affect behavior.
But the list is much longer, unfortunately, and it is known to also affect metabolism (facilitating the appearance of diabetes and obesity), the thyroid gland, or the cardiovascular system.
Therefore, we can conclude that BPA is a potential danger to our health and that we prefer to use food packaged in containers without this compound, or to use reusable lunch boxes or bottles that do not contain it.
What is BPA free
Free means without, so BPA free is anything free of the presence of this substance in its composition. At Inuitz, we are clear about this and none of our reusable bottles use it in their composition, because in addition to thinking about solutions that provide comfort and resistance, we put the health of our customers before any other consideration.
We place a strong emphasis on all our products being 100% safe, and we guarantee that we have not used it in any of our bottles (neither in models for adults nor in those designed for children).
If you are thinking of buying a reusable bottle, we recommend some of our models (knowing that none of them will interfere with our health):
- The Cool Gear Zooey 370 ml has a cute animal shape and the perfect size for children to carry without it being too heavy.

- The Cool Gear Column, in addition to being BPA-free like the rest of our bottles, features a very comfortable cap and a handle for gripping.

- Cool Gear Cyclone is another comfortable and fun model, designed for young people.
